Agenda
1. The Budget Battle: What’s Next
We didn’t get what we needed in the budget, for SSI and CalWORKs recipients. But the fight is only beginning. And AB 1321, the bill for nutrition incentives, is still alive.
2. Continuing the Conversation: Restorative Justice and Food
Incarcerated Californians are suffering from poor health and dying from preventable diseases. We are going to continue the conversation begun at the last meeting about advocating for healthy food in prisons.
3. Make It Fair Campaign
Why do so many of our legislative issues attempting to help the poor, fail? They cost money---and our state’s tax policies don’t bring in enough money. Hear our special guest Joey Hernandez talk about the Make It Fair commercial/property tax reform campaign---another one of those things that doesn’t sound like it has anything to do with hunger, but in the big picture, it’s a part of why millions of Californians don’t have the income they need to put enough food on the table.
