For shoppers we recommend asking Access to drop you at this address: 12236 Pacific Avenue, Los Angeles 90066.
This is a building by a laundromat, and through the laundromat parking lot you can get into the market. Please note the drop off address is near some residential buildings also. When you arrive please notify Frank 213 361 2075 by call or text.
Mar Vista will have a table for us not far from the info booth. Beware: It is a HUGE market.
Shoppers: Please arrange your ride home and notify me ahead of time so we can make sure we get you where you need to be at the right time. ACCESS will be helping us coordinate the rides home! Many thanks to ACCESS and to Yael for arranging this.
Volunteers: Please try to arrive a little before 10 am so that we can be there to meet shoppers. The market is big and we need to guide folks to the table that Mar Vista Farmers Market always graciously prepares for our group
If you’ve never participated before, here’s what it is:
HALA's BLV Healthy Food Program has a Blind or Low VisionShopping day. These days are very special for both the volunteers and the shoppers.
- We pair blind or low vision shoppers with volunteers with sight.
- The volunteers help guide the shoppers through the farmers market so the shoppers can feel, taste and smell the wonderful produce at the market.
This is one of LA’s biggest farmers markets, with a wide selection of prepared foods as well as fruits and vegetables. Tamales, pastries, sandwiches, Vietnamese food, Korean barbecue---its all there. Hunger Action LA will provide shoppers with tokens or vouchers to buy a little something.
