How Does Market Match Work?

Market Match matches your CalFresh spending, dollar for dollar, up to the participating market’s limit. HALA currently advertises a match of up to $20. Ask the information booth about the amount available that day.

For example, at a market offering a $20 match:

You don’t have to spend the full $15 to participate. Matching funds are available while supplies last.

Get Started in Four Easy Steps

      1. Find a participating farmers market. Not every market offers Market Match.

      2. Bring your EBT card to the information booth. Tell the staff how much CalFresh you would like to spend.

      3. Receive your EBT coupons and Market Match vouchers. Staff will explain how to use each.

      4. Shop for fresh food! Use your Market Match vouchers for eligible fruits, vegetables, and certain nuts from participating certified growers.

Remember: To receive HALA’s Market Match incentive, you must also use your EBT coupons to purchase fruits and vegetables at that same market on the same day. Spending only the Market Match vouchers does not meet this requirement.
