We’d love to have you come join Hunger Action LA (HALA) as we award people, organizations, and companies whose work meets with its mission at our annual dinner this November.
The “Champions Against Hunger and Poverty” dinner will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Kavar Banquet Hall, 4777 Santa Monica Blvd, LA 90029. map
Introduction
Funds raised for this event will go towards the support of bonus food vouchers for low income consumers through the Market Match program at 24 Farmers Markets. Over 10,000 people were served through the program this year. Funding also supports HALA’s training and advocacy for the community on nutrition, food issues and policies; and the publication of The People’s Guide, a 72 page booklet helping those trying to get through hard times.
2016 Awardees
This year’s awardees are Renee Gunter of Daily Organics LA: Kate Meiss, formerly of Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles: and Alicia Rhoden of Hunger Action LA. Each of them have fought hunger in a unique way for many years and will be honored this year for their contributions.
