HALA WEEKLY FOOD DELIVERY
When the COVID pandemic hit, Hunger Action LA began a weekly food delivery program assisting blind, disabled and senior residents, and others temporarily locked down due to COVID. Over the past two years HALA has utilized nearly 200 volunteers to collect, pack, and distribute food, mostly produce and prepared meals. We have partnered with four restaurants, numerous local farmers, and many other donors of healthy fruits, vegetables and staple foods.
The program currently serves 120 households. We collect produce and other grocery items from Food Forward: the Hollywood Food Coalition: and Mutual Aid Action of Los Angeles. The Joy of Sharing Foundation in Norwalk provide vegetarian prepared meals every week for the program. Everytable supplies prepared meals at a discount rate.
If you'd like to volunteer, please sign up below. Volunteers are needed to pack food on Wednesday mornings 8:30 am until 1 pm: and to drive food to residents from 1 pm to 3 pm. We pack food and send drivers from Koreatown (details provided to volunteers.)
