Hunger Action LA’s Market Match program is competing for a grant, decided by your votes, in the LA 2050 competition.

Vote online between today and September 16, 2014, and help Market Match expand to more markets in LA County.

Through Market Match, low income people are able to obtain up to $10 each market day in bonus coupons for fresh fruits and vegetables, grown by certified farmers in California, including greens, stone fruit, root vegetables, and all the rest of our state's locally grown bounty. Participants include people recieving CalFresh (Food Stamps), WIC,Social Security, and SSI (for seniors and people with disabilities.)

Now in its fourth year, Market Match has served over 12,000 families and individuals in LA County. Market locations include Central LA, Compton, East LA, Gardena, Huntington Park, Long Beach, Monterey Park, Pomona, and Santa Monica among others. Winning the LA 2050 grant spearheaded by the Goldhirsh Foundation will help us expand to up to 8 new markets in 2015.

Market Match is a four way Win-Win-Win-Win: It reduces hunger, makes healthy eating affordable, boosts the California small farm economy, and promotes environmentally sustainable agriculture.
